College football’s opening weekend is sure to involve all soft of delicacies cooked in parking lots across America, with all manner of seasonings employed for some great regional flavors.
And this weekend in New Orleans, a city known for its culinary prowess, the University of South Alabama is bringing a metric ton of salt.
The South Alabama Jaguars are set to take on Tulane in the Crescent City, and the Jags will take the field in NOLA sporting helmets that tout their hometown of Mobile as the “Home of Mardi Gras.”
They revealed the helmet design in a promotional video on the X app.
Of course, many vaunted Carnival season traditions have their roots in Alabama, but New Orleans is the place most known for the colorful festivities.
So apparently the Green Wave will be fighting for the Big Easy’s Mardi Gras reputation when they host South Alabama Saturday at 7pm.
