A cyclist is dead after state police say he was struck by a truck on Interstate 10 in St. Charles Parish.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on I-10 West near the Interstate 310 split just west of the Jefferson/St. Charles Parish Line.
According to investigators, a pickup truck attempting to get onto the I-310 on-ramp struck the cyclist. Investigators say the crash happened after the cyclist, who was riding on the shoulder of I-10, tried to cross several lanes of traffic near the 310 on-ramp.
The cyclist died at the scene. State troopers have not identified him.
Troopers say the driver of the pickup remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
The crash remains under investigation.
