A man who allegedly carjacked two women in St. Charles Parish is now in custody.
According to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Amanda Pertuis, the incident happened Saturday around 7:40 p.m. on River Road near Nicole Lane in Taft.
Pertuis says two women reported that they were sitting in a car when a man armed with a gun approached their car. That’s when, Pertuis says, the man put his gun to the driver’s head and ordered her to take him to Hahnville. According to Pertuis, the driver got out of the car, leaving her passenger in the back seat. The armed man got into the car and drove to a convenience store while the second woman was still in the car. Once at the convenience store, the man ditched the car, allowing the second woman to drive back to safety.
According to Pertuis, deputies obtained surveillance video that showed the suspect getting into another car. Pertuis says investigators found that car a short time later and identified the suspect by matching his appearance and clothing to those seen in the surveillance video.
The suspect, Blaine Joseph Pierce, 43, of Hahnville, is in jail on an armed robbery charge. He’s awaiting his 72-hour bond hearing.
The case remains under investigation.
