A jailer found herself in jail after alleged sexual interaction with an inmate.
It happened in St. James Parish.
“Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr. announces the arrest of St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office Correctional Deputy Amaiya Fobb, a twenty-year-old female from Gramercy, for Malfeasance in Office; Sexual Conduct with a Person in an Institution,” Lt. Amanda Pertuis said in a news release.
The case started when jailers found out that an inmate was using a TV to access the internet.
“The website displayed communication that was sexual in nature between Deputy Fobb and the inmate.”
Pertuis says an investigation was immediately opened.
“Detectives found sufficient probable cause for an arrest warrant for Amaiya Fobb. Fobb was arrested.”
Fobb had been working at the jail for nearly 7 months.
“The actions of Amaiya Fobb do not define the others who wear our uniform. Fobb began her employment with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office on January 12, 2026. Her employment was terminated today. I thank our detectives for conducting a fair and thorough investigation to ensure justice is served. No one is above the law,” said Sheriff Louis said.
