The effort to recall St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape began this week, with the filing of a recall petition.
Noble-Bates Young, organizer of the recall effort, joined WWL's Newell Normand today to discuss the six-month long effort to gather enough signatures.
"Rough number: we're looking at 38,000," Young said about the minimum number of signatures needed to force a recall election. And Young noted that this would be the first election when it comes to Tape, who won by default after running unopposed.
"This recall is giving us the opportunity for our citizens to speak," said Young.
Young said the recall effort has support from other St. Tammany Parish elected officials.
"Our entire legislative delegation has personally signed the recall already," Young said.
