A Destrehan woman is facing an attempted murder charge after St. Tammany Parish authorities say she ran over a sheriff's deputy with her car.
Investigators say the incident happened Sunday night on Windward Passage Street in Eden Isle.
According to a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson, deputies were called to a home after Savanna Magee tried to leave the house in a car while drunk. When deputies arrived, Magee allegedly shifted the car into reverse and backed over a deputy who tried to remove her from the vehicle. Deputies arrested Magee, 26, after a brief chase that ended near the corner of Oak Harbor Boulevard and Oak Court in Slidell.
The deputy whom Magee allegedly ran over suffered minor injuries.
Magee is in the St. Tammany Parish Jail on attempted murder of a police officer, unauthorized use of a movable, simple battery, resisting arrest, and DWI charges.
