The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says it has fired a school resource officer after investigators arrested her on theft and money laundering charges.
Deputies booked Andrea Baragona, 38, on charges including theft of more than $25,000, money laundering, malfeasance in office, injuring public records, and false accounting.
"I hold all of our employees to the highest standard," said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. "When a public servant breaks the law, that individual must face the consequences."
The sheriff's office says Baragona's alleged crimes did not involve the sheriff's office or school board funds.
