The New Orleans Police Department says a standoff with the SWAT team that began this morning at a house in Little Woods has ended peacefully.
Reese Harper with NOPD says it started when paramedics were called to the 7400 block of Seven Oaks Road shortly before 8 a-m.
"EMS arrived on scene to assist a woman who was suffering from a medical issue," Harper said. "The woman brandished a weapon. EMS was able to safely retreat."
Harper says when police arrived on the scene, the woman fired a shot. No one was injured, and SWAT team negotiators spend the next few hours persuading the woman to come out.
Police say the woman surrendered without further incident around 1 p.m.
