A St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy is fired and arrested for allegedly beating an inmate at the parish jail.
Justin Doles was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery for an alleged incident with the inmate on December 2.
The jail medical staff evaluated the inmate and found no serious injuries according to a spokesperson for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“I want to ensure the citizens of St. Tammany Parish that I will continue to hold my deputies fully accountable for their actions,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.
Doles began his employment with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in April 2015.
Once the investigation is complete, the entire case file will be turned over to the FBI Civil Rights Division.
