It doesn't have to be complicated

Father’s Day is just around the corner … do you have plans and reservations at the ready? If not, NOLA.com food writer Ian McNulty says there’s no reason to panic. In speaking to WWL’s Tommy Tucker, McNulty said the most important thing is making sure the dad you’re celebrating is having fun.

“My evergreen Father’s Day advice when people are asking for restaurant recommendations is to do it around food that person loves and where their comfort level is. If that’s a steakhouse, an oyster bar, the back yard grilling food, or having some crawfish since they’re still in season … it’s all about what that person’s zone is. Find where their bliss is and connect with them through that,” McNulty goes on to suggest.

Some dads like to man the grill on Father’s Day, some would rather take the day off and be treated to a special spot they might normally not get to hit up. Some would like to saddle up to a bar for finger foods and conversation. It doesn’t have to be razzle dazzle and epic plans. Keeping the dad you’re celebrating at the forefront and catering to their preferences can be the key to a happy time.
