
Video from inside Hurricane Ida was taken this morning before the storm moved closer to the Gulf Coast. The footage was taken by a team of hurricane hunters collecting data for research.
The video shows the eye of Ida as a P3 aircraft was taken into the storm by the NESDIS Ocean Winds research team.
In the video, clouds can be seen collapsing in on each other and almost a sense of peace as winds reaching up to 100 miles per hour and rainfall below.
Ida is less than an hour from making landfall in Southeast Louisiana as thousands of residents are without power sheltering in place.
