Now that New Orleans' tourism numbers are back to pre-pandemic levels, what's next for one of the Crescent City's biggest industries? Don't tell New Orleans and Company CEO Walt Leger III that we have an off-season.

"I really downplay this whole concept that New Orleans is a tough place to be in the summer," said Leger. "Certainly a busy summer and a lot going on."

Leger said there will be big events this summer, and they will be indoors, so our summer heat is no excuse.

"We're obviously always excited to be welcoming back the Essence Fest, which will be here in the next couple of weeks," said Leger.

The annual series of R&B concerts at the Superdome will be followed a few days later by a UFC championship event.

"We've got a UFC championship bout for the first time," said Leger. "We'll be hosting an event with Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway."

That's at the Smoothie King Center, which in August will host the U.S. gymnastics championships.
