Super Bowl frenzy continues to ramp up in New Orleans, and it's wrapping up visitors who are in town for events other than the big game.
Kathy and Shannon are from Ontario, Canada, and are visiting for Shannon's birthday. While both women said they know nothing about American football, they know enough to root for each of the teams in the Super Bowl.
Kathy said she's pulling for the Philadelphia Eagles.
"(I'm wearing an) Eagles shirt because Buffalo isn't here, and I don't want K. C. to win," Kathy said with a chuckle.
Shannon, meanwhile, admitted that pop culture played a role in her supporting the Kansas City Chiefs.
"I knew Travis Kelce before I got here because he's with Taylor Swift," Shannon said before bursting into laughter.
Even though the friends from the Great White North didn't take the Super Bowl into consideration while planning their trip, they said they've made it a point to enjoy some of this week's festivities.
"We went to the opening night on Monday night," Kathy said. "It was a great time to see all the players. For us, it was a great time to take in the atmosphere when we're not going to be here on Sunday. It was a great addition to the trip."
"We've had a great time," Shannon added. "Because the Super Bowl is here, it made it better than just coming and wandering around. We went to opening night on Monday night. That's something I would never do."
Meanwhile, some of the people working during the Super Bowl events are living vicariously through the tourists they encouter. A pedicab driver we met, Tree, said he's enjoying the party while it lasts.
"People are good! I run into good, sweet people all the day, all day long, really," Tree said.
Tree said he thrives on environments like this because he "(loves) to be in the thick of it." According to Tree, he loves these types of crowds not only because they're good for business, but also because they are good for his soul.
""Let me free and be able to experience people having a good time. That's the best," Tree said. "There are more rewards to this than money. You know, the energy that people bring to you and your life is as good as any reward you can get."
