The New Orleans Saints' first open practice at training camp is Saturday. Four weeks from the preceding Friday, the Saints play their first and only home game of the preseason. Renovation work at the Superdome is going on pause for the football season.
"We've consolidated everything down and now we're converting now into event mode to get ready for the upcoming football season," said Evan Holmes with the Superdome.
Turf installation has also begun.
The renovations are on schedule, set to be complete by the time the Superdome hosts Super Bowl 59, scheduled for February 9, 2025.
The Saints are playing just one game at home for their three-game exhibition schedule, hosting the Los Angeles Chargers. Their first regular-season home game will be Sunday, September 18, versus Tampa Bay.
