A police pursuit in Metairie ended with a car crash on Transcontinental Drive near Veteran Memorial Boulevard.
Deputies say the chase started when a driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop related to an earlier investigation.
WWL-TV reports the suspect's vehicle collided with a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office unit.
Deputies reportedly removed three dogs from the suspect's vehicle, long with the suspect himself, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries in the crash.
A deputy sheriff also needed treatment at the hospital. The deputy is listed in stable condition.
