The woman wanted for a deadly hit and run on Elysian Fields near I-610 this week is in custody.
The suspect, 44-year-old Shira Barousse Northcutt, surrendered Friday to New Orleans Police. Police say they also have her vehicle impounded for evidence.
Cops say the woman and the victim got into a confrontation early Thursday morning at a gas station in the 3100 block of Elysian Fields Ave.
"The victim was at the location and had reportedly purchased several items before an unknown white female allegedly took the victims items from the exterior of the victim's vehicle," said police. "The victim then reportedly confronted the suspect, who was inside of her vehicle, and demanded her property. The suspect then allegedly struck the victim with her vehicle – identified as a blue sedan with a spare tire on the front passenger side – before fleeing the scene."
Authorities booked Northcutt on one count of hit-and-run driving causing death, and obstruction of justice.
