The New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board announced Friday that it can generate enough power to operate all its pumps if it meets peak demand.
"SWBNO currently has 49 MW of 25Hz power capacity available," the drainage agency said.
That is more than the 44 MW needed to run all pumps simultaneously.
SWBNO says that is still in the caution zone, and any disruption to power generation could reduce their ability to provide power in a peak-demand flood event.
About 90 percent of the city's drainage pumps are currently operational, according to SWBNO.
