Starting today, New Orleans will host several tall sailing ships from around the world.
It’s part of the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States.
"Sail 250" brings in vessels from the U-S, Europe, and South America to join America for the 250th anniversary celebration.
New Orleans & Company's Mark Romig says some ships are already docked downtown, and several more are coming.
"The majority of the tall ships will start coming up the river... beginning around 8 o' clock in the morning on Thursday.":
He says the boats come with a lot of sailors too.
"We are going to have about 3,000 crew members from around the world in New Orleans."
The ships will be open for free public tours through Sunday.
