A 13-year-old is in the hospital after Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies say he was shot while riding in a vehicle traveling along Interstate 12.
The shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. Friday on I-12 East between Pumpkin Center Road and Happywoods Road.
According to deputies, the driver reported that someone pulled along side her SUV and fired two shots at the vehicle. The 13-year-old was shot in the neck and in the upper right thigh. The driver of the SUV, who was not wounded, stopped before immediately rerouting to an area hospital.
Authorities say the bad weather Friday night prevented them from recovering much evidence.
