A teacher from the Northshore is facing child pornography and other charges after investigators say he paid kids for pornographic pictures.
"Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating in October 2024 after they were notified that Jarvis Harry, a teacher at a Mandeville-area high school, was reportedly paying students to send him pictures," Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
It apparently started with pictures of their feet and progressed to "sexually explicit" images and videos.
"Warrants were issued for Harry’s arrest and he was located Thursday (March 13) in Tangipahoa Parish, where he was taken into custody and booked as a fugitive. He was transported to and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center Monday (March 17) on one count of Indecent Behavior with Juveniles, 142 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles, 60 counts of Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor, 102 counts of Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between an Educator and Student."
Carboni says Harry was on leave from his teaching position at the time the detectives received the initial report.
"Some of the students have been identified. However, detectives are still working to identify some of the students in the photos. Anyone who believe they or their child may be a victim of Harry, is asked to contact the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office by calling (985) 898-2338 as this is an ongoing investigation."
