Cops say a Northshore teenager died Saturday from an apparent drowning.
The Slidell Police Department received a report of a possible downing at Palm Lake.
"Officers rushed to the scene, where they discovered that just minutes prior, a fifteen-year-old male had jumped into the lake to retrieve an item, but never resurfaced," Sgt. Jake Morris said in a news release.
He says divers were able to locate the teen, who had "sadly passed away as a result of the drowning."
It happened shortly after 4:30pm.
“This is a very sad situation and every parent’s worst nightmare. Our condolences are with the teen’s family during these tough times,” says Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal.
Morris says that at this time, foul play is not suspected.
