New Orleans Police say two people are dead after gunfire this morning in Algiers.
"The NOPD is investigating the shooting deaths of a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man," according to a news release.
It happened shortly before 8:00am in the 1800 block of Jo Ann Place.
"Officers located both individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. The girl was pronounced dead on the scene, and the man was transported to a local hospital where he later died."
Investigators say there is no "ongoing threat to the public."
"They are in the process of gathering information to determine what led to this tragic outcome."
