St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 16-year-old who was shot and killed over the weekend was targeted.
Deputies say the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on Airline Highway near Central Avenue in Reserve.
According to investigators, the victim, Aariah Henry, was riding in a car when someone pulled alongside her and opened fire. Henry later died at a hospital.
Nearby surveillance cameras recorded the shooting. Deputies say that video and witness statements lead them to believe Henry was the intended target.
Deputies say they do not yet have any leads.
