Teen suspects arrested in Tangipahoa home invasion, murder

Murder Suspect Arrested
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office

Two more suspects have been arrested in a deadly Tangipahoa Parish home invasion.

According to a post on the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Avery Guidry, 18, and Tra'von Johnson, 19, are now in custody in the shooting death of Donte Perry.

Deputies say Guidry and Johnson, both of Tickfaw, were part of the group that broke into Perry's home on Rufus Bankston Road on September 12. Deputies say during the course of the home invasion, someone shot Perry and his 12-year-old daughter. Perry died of his wounds. Perry's daughter was critically wounded but survived.

Guidry and Johnson were arrested earlier this week on unrelated drugs and guns charges. Deputies say their investigation led them to identify the teens as suspects in the case. They were officially booked in connection with the Perry case on Thursday.

Two days earlier, Tangipahoa deputies arrested another suspect in the case. Omarion Hookfin had been identified as a suspect in the case days before his arrest on Tuesday.

All three suspects remain in jail on first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and aggravated kidnapping charges.
