If you are headed out to eat for Mother's Day, you might want to lower your expectations.
It is the first Mother's Day where people can go out to eat since 2019, and while restaurants have been allowed to be open for months, it has only been weeks since capacity limits were lifted. And Louisiana Restaurant Association president Stan Harris says many of their members are still struggling to rebuild their staffs.
"If you're going to try and go out and eat or engage like that, perhaps you should learn a little bit of COVID courtesy," said Harris.
Because of supply shortages or labor shortages or both, dining out this Mother's Day might not be the experience you are used to having.
"There are going to be some limitations as to what our restaurants can do," Harris explained. "It may not be your favorite menu item, it may be more limited hours."
Harris says maybe consider ordering to go, and remember that while the mask mandate has been lifted in most of Louisiana, New Orleans still requires them, and some restaurants might, too.
