Port Orleans Brewing Company will be ground zero Friday for the return of Gleason Gras!
The event, a revival of the celebration of the life and continuing inspiration of Saints great Steve Gleason, will pick right up where it left off and commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the event.
Gleason Gras is part of the foundation named for Steve Gleason.
It raises money and awareness for those living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)—once known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The gras has been on hold for the last two years due to COVID.
But the event is still one of the biggest fundraisers for the foundation.
Entertainment will be provided by the Hot 8 Brass Band, Groovy 7, After Party and DJ Jubilee.
A bunch of local eateries including Galatoire's, Jack Rose, Mr. John’s Steakhouse, Zea’s, Avo Taco, Fulton Alley, Katie’s in Mid-City, Drago’s, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Casamigos Tequila, Jackson Family Wines will provide food and drink to the enthusiastic crowds looking to taste the best New Orleans has to offer.
Tickets are $250 and go up from there. The event kicks off at 6pm and a revival event gets going at 7pm. Port Orleans is located at 4124 Tchoupitoulas Street.
A mainstay of the Gras is the auction! Items include sports memorabilia—including limited edition posters signed by Steve Gleason, artwork, jewelry, vacations, dinner, clothing, home décor items and event tickets.
Team Gleason has grown from an all-volunteer group of family and friends to a professional staff of 20 with a diverse, 32-member Board of Directors.
With a $4 million annual budget, more than 80% of Team Gleason’s revenue is directed toward program expenses, funding the services and support that helps those battling ALS to overcome physical limitations and live a more independent and purposeful life.
