There's a whole new side of New Orleans for visitors and their kids to enjoy!

New Orleans' efforts to remake its image to tourists takes its first steps as the summer travel season gets underway.

WWL spoke with New Orleans and Company’s Mary Beth Romig about the efforts of the city’s marketing agency to attract more families to come to the Crescent City.

“We’re trying to pivot away from New Orleans being about Bourbon Street and to the family friendly destinations,” Romig explains.  “We’re promoting all the great family things there are to do.  And trying to open people’s minds to the fact that it’s a great city for visitors of all ages.”

Romig talks about some of the new attractions that are throwing open their doors and welcoming people in:

“The Audubon Aquarium and Audubon Insectarium, they’ve gone through an incredible transformation,” Romig says.

Romig explains these Riverwalk attractions are helping the marketing firm launch a whole new side to New Orleans tourism.

“I think the most important thing New Orleans and Company is doing this summer is really leaning in the spirit of family travel,” She says.  “We have some many great things to do in New Orleans.”

The aim is to really make New Orleans more than just the French Quarter and Bourbon Street.

One example is the new attraction at the top of the Four Seasons Hotel: Vue Orleans.

“We have the new attraction Vue Orleans that offers kids of all ages this incredible view from atop the Four Seasons Hotel, by the organization that has created Vue Orleans.  It’s a sure can’t miss activity for not just visitors to New Orleans, but for locals cause it really opens your eyes.”

So go ahead, become a kid again and explore New Orleans like it’s your first time, again.  Or call your relatives and tell them, this time, bring the kids along!
