A man in St. John the Baptist Parish, La., reached an unusual milestone this week: his 56th arrest.
According to a Friday Facebook post from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office LaPlace resident Ulysses Joseph, 57, was arrested April 20 and faces two separate criminal charges.
“Joseph initially was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court for several traffic violations,” said the sheriff’s office. “While incarcerated, detectives developed Joseph as a suspect in the theft of a pressure washer from Home Depot in LaPlace,” it added.
Since 1984, Joseph has been arrested 56 times in the parish, authorities said. He was in police custody as of Friday afternoon.
While 56 is a considerable amount of arrests, Joseph has a long way to go to compete with another man The Smoking Gun identified as “The Most Arrested Man” in 2013. Henry Earl of Kentucky had been arrested around 1,500 times as of that year and people in the Lexington area view him as “sort of celebrity,” said CNN.
