Southern University in Baton Rouge has lifted a campus-wide lockdown, but is ordering all non-essential personnel and students who live off campus to evacuate.
The university issued a shelter-in-place order earlier this morning, then lifted the lockdown shortly before 12:45 p.m.
All classes and activities today and tomorrow have been canceled.
The university says accommodations will be made for students who live on campus, and instructions will be communicated directly to them.
Authorities have not specified the nature of the threat that prompted the lockdown.
