New Orleans Police say about a dozen area schools received threats late last night and today.
NOPD Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier says they have identified the culprits, but remarked that this was one of the widest-reaching incidents of school threats he's seen in his years in law enforcement.
Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick says none of the schools faced active incidents, and that all schools are safe.
Some campuses, such as Sophie B. Wright School, canceled class for today. Others enacted more stringent safety measures.
The threats were spread in a variety of ways. Some were left written on school grounds, others will called in anonymously to Crimestoppers, some were made directly to law enforcement, and some were posted on social media.
