Cops say they were able to find the driver that hit a pedestrian in Livingston Parish with the help of the public.
"Troopers have arrested 30-year-old Brandon Chenevert of Denham Springs in connection with the hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian severely injured," Trooper Shelby Mayfield said in a news release.
The crash happened on March 29, just before 9:00pm.
"Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on LA 1023, south of LA 63. The investigation revealed that a vehicle, possibly a Toyota, struck the pedestrian and fled north on LA 1023. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Troopers requested the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver."
Mayfield says they got a call three days later.
"On April 1, 2025, Troopers received two anonymous tips identifying Chenevert as the driver. A search warrant was executed, leading to the discovery of the suspect vehicle and damaged parts. Narcotics and firearms were also found on the property."
Chenevert has been booked on charges including felony hit and run, negligent injuring, and obstruction of justice.
"The Louisiana State Police recognizes the vital role community members play in solving crimes and promoting public safety. In this case, an anonymous tip proved instrumental in identifying the suspect involved in the hit-and-run crash. Troopers extend their sincere appreciation to those who came forward, demonstrating how public cooperation is essential to holding offenders accountable and keeping our communities safe."
