Louisiana State Police Troop NOLA says a police chase led to one arrest and the seizure of drugs, guns, cash, and a stolen car.
Troopers say the incident began Saturday near Elysian Fields and N. Claiborne avenues when they tired to pull over a Honda Accord for a traffic violation.
" The driver, identified as 37-year-old Brandon Alexander, refused to stop, leading to a pursuit," authorities said.
"The pursuit concluded near N. Claiborne Avenue and Touro Street, where Alexander abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot," according to troopers. "During his attempted escape, he discarded a Glock firearm and a bag containing narcotics."
Troop NOLA says the Honda was reported stolen from Texas, and the gun they seized was reported stolen in New Orleans.
The narcotics included 14 grams of Fentanyl and 22 doses of Suboxone, said state troopers.
The troopers booked Alexander into Orleans Parish Prison on multiple charges involving stolen property, firearm possession, and narcotics.
