About 5,000 customers across Southeast Louisiana lost power Wednesday evening as Tropical Storm Bertha came ashore.
Some coastal areas saw water rise near the shore and cover some roads outside of the hurricane protection.
That was about the worst of the impacts.
Most of the power was restored withing a few hours.
Dry air and wind shear pushed nearly all of the rain out over the Gulf.
The National Hurricane Center says Bertha is weakening and moving away.
"On the forecast track, the center of Bertha will move near or along the Louisiana and upper Texas coasts through Thursday."
Winds from the storm were decreasing across Southeast Louisiana Wednesday night.
The system is forecast to fall apart over Texas Thursday night.
