Forecasters say people near the Louisiana / Texas state line should prepare for a landfalling Tropical Storm Edouard.
The National Hurricane Center expects a system south of the New Orleans area to get stronger. It was Potential Tropical Cyclone Five as of this morning.
“Some strengthening is expected during the next day or so, and the system is forecast to become a tropical storm by tonight.” the NHC posted.
WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says Southeast Louisiana will get some rain from this.
"Expect passing showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, especially during the afternoon. Some storms could produce heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds. It won't rain all day, but tropical moisture will keep plenty of showers around," Malone forecasts.
