If you take Interstate 12 East through Hammond as part of your morning commute, you'll want to take an alternate route for the next few hours. That's because crews are on the I-55 overpass working to remove bales of hay that fell off a truck earlier this morning.
Authorities say the truck lost its hay after its trailer flipped, sending the hay across both of the eastbound lanes. Officials did not say how long it would take them to clear the hay from the road.
Alternate routes include US 190 and LA 22.
