Travelers have been waiting as much as five hours for delayed fights today at New Orleans Armstrong International Airport.

Mayor Helena Moreno says, "Make sure you get there as early, as early as possible... today and tomorrow."

She explained that airport officials told her that many Transportation Security Administration agents didn't come to work today.

"TSA agents didn't receive a paycheck, so you have a lot of the workforce that has called in sick... causing these huge, huge lines."

This comes after Congress has not passed a funding bill for Homeland Security, which includes TSA.

The flight board shows dozens of flight delays in and out of New Orleans.

There are apparent sick outs at other airports too.

The service FlightAware reported more than 16,000 delays Sunday, with close to 2,000 cancellations.
