New Orleans firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a multi-unit apartment building in the Lower Garden District.
The fire happened Monday afternoon in the 1500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.
Firefighters quickly arrived to find a two-story wood-framed apartment building with heavy flames and smoke coming from the second story and roof of the building.
The building consisted of five apartments; one occupied and four vacant. The residents of that apartment were outside safely as firefighters arrived on the scene. Three of the vacant apartments received heavy fire, smoke, and water damage; the occupied unit received water damage. No residents or firefighters were injured in the fire.
