The New Orleans Police Department says they've made an arrest in the vandalization of City Park’s antique Carousel and iconic Storyland attractions.
They say 25-year-old Pablo Amador and 22-year-old Monica Okada allegedly caused thousands of dollars in property damage to the park’s attractions.
An NOPD report says, “As investigation into the incident progressed, information received through tips to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans aided investigators in developing Amadar and Okada as suspects. With the assistance of Kenner Police Department investigators, a search warrant was executed at the home of Amadar in that jurisdiction. Amadar was located and arrested during execution of the search warrant. Detectives were also able to recover the stolen property at the location. Okada, who is also believed to reside in the Kenner area, remains at large and remains wanted for arrest in connection with this incident.”
In a statement, City Park’s Chief Operations Officer, Rob DeViney says, “We appreciate everyone who has helped with this case including the staff of City Park and NOPD. We further appreciate all the tips phoned-in, kind words, and donations sent from the community.”
He adds, “We know this is a troubling time for so many, and many are having a difficult time coping. We’d like to take this opportunity to remind people while sometimes bad things happen, New Orleans City Park will always be there for you. We hope the people responsible for this crime can one day come to know and appreciate City Park like we know so many of you do.”
