Two separate shootings in Tangipahoa Parish have left two people dead, one person in jail, and authorities searching for a second gunman.
The first shooting happened around 9 a.m. at an apartment complex on 1st Street in Independence. Police responding to a call of a shooting in a duplex found the victim, 18-year-old Le’Airrah Dupard, dead of a gunshot wound.
According to investigators, Dupard was standing near a window when someone fired a shot through that window. Authorities do not believe she was the intended target.
The second shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday on Oak Hill Road in Kentwood. Police responded to a call of a fight, but when they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That victim, Renaldo Brumfield, 38, later died. The suspected gunman in this case, Gerald Harvey, 41, is in the parish jail on a second-degree murder charge.
The investigations into both homicides continues. If you have information about either case, call The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-902-2008.
