New Orleans Police say a woman and a man arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds around midnight.
They were wounded in separate incidents.
Cops were notified at 11:55pm that a man had been shot and was in the ER.
Public Information Officer Kaitlin Rust Landry said, "The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred at a location on Orleans Avenue.
"
Later she emailed to say it was an apparent accident that led to that shooting.
"The signal has been changed to negligent injury."
Just before 12:30am, Landry says they got another call.
"Initial reports show an adult female gunshot wound victim arrived at a local hospital by private conveyance."
Detective believe that woman was shot "somewhere in the Desire area."
Landry did not release any further information on either case.
