Bullets were flying in Central City overnight.
The New Orleans Police Department says two women were shot.
"The NOPD is investigating a double shooting that left one woman dead and another woman injured in the 2200 block of Magnolia Street," Public Relations Specialist Karen Boudrie said in an email.
She says it happened just after midnight.
"Initial reports show that one woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound."
Boudrie did not release any information about who shot the women or why.
