People receiving unemployment, Medicaid or SNAP are now eligible for free cell phone service

Thanks to a COVID Relief bill those receiving unemployment, Medicaid or SNAP Benefits are now eligible to receive free mobile internet service. Q Link Wireless is one of the phone providers participating in the program and CEO Issa Asad said you can even keep your current phone and number.

“And what it does is offer a one per household subscription to unlimited talk, text, and data... to millions of Americans in need,” said Asad.

Asad said to sign up for the benefit you can visit QLinkWireless.com, He said once approved you’ll receive service in two to three days.

“You will not receive a bill for the use of your cell phone before and after the program, as long as you’re enrolled you have no bill,” said Asad.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit program passed by Congress begins on February 25th and lasts until the end of the year, after that Asad said you can roll over into the LifeLine program.

“Which if you are unemployed still or receive one of the other Medicaid or SNAP programs, still receive service but you’ll receive about 4.5 gigs instead of unlimited,” said Asad.
