After spending two nights at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, former Governor Edwin Edwards was released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. Doctors have diagnosed the 93-year-old with rhinovirus, which is an infectious virus that produces the common head coach. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
Edwards’ wife Trina Edwards released this statement.
“We’d like to thank everybody for all the prayers and concerns. He’s resting well and is already back to giving orders.”
Edwards was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon by paramedics because of breathing problems. Edwards biographer, Leo Honeycutt said the former four-term governor tested negative for COVID and pneumonia and was admitted overnight for observation.
