UPDATE, 6:37 a.m.: Two lanes of I-55 North are now open. Delays in the area are minimal.
ORIGINAL STORY: If you typically take Interstate 55 to get from LaPlace to the Northshore, you'll want to take an alternate route this morning.
I-55 North is closed at Mile Marker 3 because of a crash. Crews are working to clear the wreckage, but DOTD officials have not said how long the highway will be closed.
Driver may use U. S. 51 as a detour.
