Fully vaccinated K-12 students in Louisiana should no longer have to quarantine if exposed to someone with the coronavirus, state health leaders announced today.
State epidemiologist Dr. Theresa Sokol says there are a few conditions.
"These individuals do need to mask for ten days when they return," she said, "And ideally, they would test at day five just to be on the safe side and try to catch any cases that may pop up."
Dr. Sokol says that policy also goes for students who have recovered from coronavirus in the past 90 days. And she says unvaccinated students may also avoid quarantine if they are tested twice within the first five days, and will have to mask for ten days.
