Ochsner is taking appointments for the largest single coronavirus vaccination event so far in Louisiana, Monday at the Shrine on Airline.
"VaccineFest will start Monday morning at 10 a.m.," said Ochsner Health CEO Warner Thomas. "It'll run for 24 hours straight."
Thomas says they'll be giving 6,500 shots of the two-dose Medina vaccine. He told WWL-TV they're trying to make it fun, with music, even a Spotify playlist for the 15-minute wait people take after their shot, to make sure there's no reaction.
Appointments are encouraged, however, no appointment is needed between the times of 7pm and 7am today. Anyone can drive up during that time and get a vaccine without a scheduled appointment.
Thomas said Louisiana's increasing supply of vaccine is good news.
"We want to get folks vaccinated and we want to take care of as many people as possible," he said.
