A 14-year veteran of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is facing accusations of indecent behavior with a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and possession of child sexual abuse material, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office announced late Friday.
"The Louisiana State Police notified the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office that it had secured an active arrest warrant for Gavin Lyvers for crimes committed in Tangipahoa Parish," said Capt. Jason Rivarde with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
"JPSO assisted LSP in taking him into custody, and his employment was terminated," Rivarde said.
State Police says the investigation began with a tip to Homeland Security Investigations about a social media account that was being used to share child sexual abuse material. Investigators say they were able to trace the account to Lyvers.
According to state police, Lyvers was also using the account to communicate with minors and trade "items of monetary value" for child pornography.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have had contact with Lyvers or has information related to the case to contact the LA Safe Fusion Center.
