Victim in Algiers shooting died, case reclassified as homicide

New Orleans Police say a shooting in the Old Aurora neighborhood of Algiers late this morning proved deadly.

According to police, shortly after 11 a.m., a man was shot in the 3100 block of Pittari Place, off General Meyer Avenue.

"Initial reports show that a man sustained at least one gunshot wound to his body," said NOPD Public Information Officer Reese Harper.

Police say that victim died a short time later at the hospital.

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
