Security video from a convenience store in New Orleans East shows the moment a clerk at the store fired on two would-be armed robbers, fatally injuring one of them.
The dead suspect is described as an underage Hispanic male. The other is identified as 18-year-old Teony Juarez.
Witnesses says it happened during a robbery of Sam's Meat Market along the I-10 Service Road near Crowder Blvd., around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The video, shared by WWL-TV, shows one of the robbers approaching the counter with his gun pointed at the clerk. Moments later, the clerk pulls his own weapon and fires several shots at both suspects. Juarez flees the store while the other suspect collapses to the floor.
Moment later, the video shows two more shots being fired at the juvenile suspect.
"This event is now considered a Homicide by shooting with an armed robbery by gun," Spokesman James Roberson said in an email.
The case remains under investigation. The clerk has not been arrested at this time. Juarez was taken into custody.
