Over one 24 hour period in New Orleans, five people were robbed by armed suspects—with two of the robberies being carjackings.
NOPD’s no-good, very bad day began in Algiers where a woman was robbed by a man on Springbrook Lane near the intersection with Vespasian Blvd.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate NOPD acknowledged the suspect known to them as Michael took the woman’s money and phone.
A man was carjacked near the intersection of St. Claude Avenue and France Street in the Bywater late Thursday night.
The victim said two men approached him and stole his blue 2004 Ford F-150 at gunpoint.
Around the same time, a woman was carjacked in Treme at the intersection of North Derbigny and St. Ann.
In the same fashion as the previous crime, two men, one armed with a gun, demanded the woman’s keys and made off with her grey 2017 Nissan Altima. The vehicle has a Texas license plate, NKK1942.
Around 2am a man almost fell victim to a robbery in Central City.
The man was accosted by a suspect armed with a knife near Jackson and Willow.
Ultimately the suspect fled before he could get his hands on any of the victim’s property.
Just around sunrise, Friday a woman robbed an elderly man at the intersection of Burgundy and Poland Avenue in the Bywater.
Finally around 5:30 Friday morning a man was robbed in New Orleans East by an armed men on Chef Menteur Highway and Crowder Boulevard.
The criminals made off with the man’s money.
